About me.
My name is Susan, and I've been teaching English since 2001.
I was born and raised in Montreal, Canada.
Although my mother tongue is English--which I grew up speaking at home with my family--I was always surrounded by a variety of languages.
Outside my home, I spoke French; in high school, I learned Spanish; later, when I graduated from university, I moved to Warsaw, Poland, where I learned Polish.
I believe that my skill as an English teacher comes from my love of languages and my understanding of what it takes to learn a second or third language. I not only know English inside out, but I also know how it feels to learn other languages.
My students always say that my lessons are clear, useful and fun. I think that's because I know what you need to learn, and I know how to teach it. I see everything in life as a lesson for my students!
My first English teaching job was in Poland, where I lived from 2001 to 2003. Then I lived and taught in Ottawa, Canada, for nearly two years. Finally, I moved to the biggest and most multicultural city in Canada--Toronto--where I've been teaching English since 2005.
I have taught and gotten to know students from more than 72 countries. Not only do I love my job, but I also feel it's an honour to be able to help so many people express themselves; to give them the tools they need to succeed in our world; and to understand all the cultures of this global community.
It's my mission to teach as many people as I can--and to do it for free when I can. That's why, in 2012, I decided to bring my skill as a teacher online. I started the Facebook Page "Learn English with Susan." I now have more than 5,000 followers!
